Once again the Giants Causeway drew the biggest number of tourists in 2008, confirming its position as Northern Irelands most popular tourist attraction.
In 2008, six of the top ten attractions drew more visitor numbers compared with 2007 with an impressive total of 9.9 million visits to tourist attractions during 2008!
Places of worship and wildlife/zoo attractions enjoyed the largest growth in 2008 compared to 2007, up from 28% to 42%.
Country and forest parks pulled the highest percentage of visitors (35%) while workplaces perhaps not so surprisingly, attracted the fewest crowds (less than 1%). Visitors to Northern Ireland in 2008 made approximately 40% of all visits to tourist attractions, up 2 percentage points on 2007.
As for attractions with either an admission or parking charge, 63% stated that their gross revenue had increased or it was similar to 2007.
